	The First Love Letter

The year was 1978 and the love letter was born.  The love letter was the result of a romantic gesture from a young jewelry designer, Michael, who gave the very first one to his girlfriend Peggy.  They had been dating for little over a year and at the time she was away for her freshman year of college.  While gone they kept in touch daily through both letters and cassette tapes.  E-mail did not exist at that time. 

Michael  was employed as an apprentice jeweler and kept himself busy at night creating projects which would challenge his skills.  One such project was a way to symbolize their daily letter writing to one another.  He wanted this to be a special gift for Peggy because she decided to transfer to a college closer to home. 

Michael was a true romantic and very sentimental.  The idea for this special gift came from his desire to permanently  capture the memory of their daily correspondence.  Once the idea struck him, he stayed up all night creating this special gift for the one he loved.  Peggy was moved to tears when she got her special love letter and they have been happily married for over 27 years.
